Israel Truxal Sheffler 18 March 1838

Israel Truxal Sheffler was the second born to Samuel C. Sheffler and Hannah Elizabeth Slife. He was a "musician", a drummer boy actually, in the Civil War, and according to a biography received a wound to the foot at one point.

Israel remained in Greensburg, as did many of his offspring, and today are Shefflers in Greensburg who are from his line.

The home he lived in, and from which he conducted business for many years, still stands on what was once the old Mt. Pleasand Road just South and East of Greensburg.
